Barn Conversion, Signature Flush Casement Windows and Signature Doors
Set within Cheshire, this beautiful red-brick barn conversion combines traditional agricultural architecture with carefully considered bespoke timber joinery.
We were commissioned to replace the windows and doors throughout the property, creating a coordinated collection of designs that would complement the building’s distinctive character while providing the benefits of modern timber technology.
From our Signature flush casement windows and doors to an impressive set of bespoke French entrance doors, every element was carefully designed to enhance the character of this unique home.
Our approach was to achieve consistency across the entire home while allowing individual architectural details, particularly the grand entrance, to become standout features.
How we delivered
We designed and handcrafted a complete collection of bespoke timber windows and doors using Accoya, an innovative modified timber renowned for its exceptional dimensional stability, durability and long-lasting performance.
Accoya also benefits from a 50-year above-ground warranty, making it an excellent choice for homeowners seeking the natural beauty of timber alongside the advantages of modern timber technology.
Our Signature flush casement windows were designed to complement the traditional red brickwork. We also crafted a combination of French doors, single doors and stable doors to match the window design and provide a consistent appearance throughout the property.
The real centrepiece of this project was the outstanding entrance. With its unusually large proportions, we worked carefully on the design to create a bespoke pair of timber doors, framed by glazed sidelights and topped with a striking arched fanlight featuring intricate sunburst detailing.
The windows and doors were colour matched to Zoffany English Toffee externally and Farrow & Ball Jitney No.293 internally. The main entrance doors were finished in Medium Oak creating a beautiful contrast and making the entrance a distinctive feature of the property.
Our craftsmanship extended beyond the windows and doors, with bespoke timber gates and a personalised address sign.
The Result
The completed installation brings together traditional design, contemporary timber technology and a carefully coordinated palette of colours and finishes.
Our Signature flush casement windows and complementary timber doors enhance the character of the red-brick barn, while the grand entrance, with its arched sunburst fanlight, provides a memorable focal point.
Our relationship with the customer continues beyond installation through our BrookeswoodEnsure service. With annual visits from our specialist team, we continue to care for the windows and doors, helping to preserve their appearance, performance and longevity for decades to come.
This project is a wonderful example of how our handcrafted timber windows and doors can enhance a property’s individual character, combining timeless design with the benefits of Modern Timber Technology.
The result is a timeless and cohesive collection of bespoke joinery, created to complement the home today and for generations to come.
Testimonial
Product – "Last year, we made the decision to replace all of the windows, doors and gates at our home—an investment that we knew would likely be one of the most significant we would make over the lifetime of the property. It was therefore essential that we partnered with a company that shared our high standards and attention to detail.
We discovered Brookeswood through a magazine feature and, from our very first interaction, have been incredibly impressed. Bradley visited us at home and immediately stood out for his passion, enthusiasm and depth of experience. He took the time to understand exactly what we were looking to achieve, while also offering thoughtful recommendations on product, design and style.
A particularly valuable part of the process was being introduced to a previous client and given the opportunity to see their installation first-hand. This gave us real confidence that we were making the right decision in choosing Brookeswood for such a significant investment.
The installation itself was seamless. The team were exceptional—highly skilled, professional and a pleasure to have in our home. The quality of the craftsmanship is outstanding, and the finished result has exceeded our expectations.
Following this, we engaged Brookeswood again to design and install bespoke timber gates across the property, including driveway gates. Consistency in quality and service remained evident throughout."
Ensure – "Given the premium nature of the products, ongoing care was important to us, so enrolling in the Ensure service was an easy decision. The team recently carried out our first annual service, and it was fantastic to see two of the original fitters return. Their professionalism, knowledge and pride in their work were clear, and it was great to have familiar faces maintaining the installation.
Having worked with Brookeswood over the past 18 months, I would not hesitate to recommend them. They are a highly professional and prestigious company, delivering exceptional quality and service—you truly get what you pay for."

“We chose Brookeswood’s heritage casement windows for our grade 2 listed cottage because although the flush design includes many desirable modern features such as the multi point espagnolette locking system for security, the outward appearance is traditional and was accepted for listed building consent by our local council. In our opinion the windows look superb.
Traditional teardrop handles add to the heritage style appearance and the whole finish of the windows, inside and outside, is to a very high standard. The frames are manufactured using Red Grandis timber which we understand is one of the best for durability, and Brookeswood provide a 10-year guarantee which also includes the triple coated surface finishing of the frames.
Our windows were fitted in August so we cannot really comment on their thermal efficiency as the weather has been warm ever since. However, we have not felt any of the draughts occasionally experienced with the old windows.”
