Leek, Staffordshire – Peak Park Barn Conversion
Bespoke Timber Windows and Doors for a Peak Park Barn Conversion in Staffordshire
Set within a conservation area in Peak Park, this picturesque stone barn conversion showcases how traditional agricultural buildings can be transformed into beautiful homes while retaining their original character.
We were commissioned to handcraft and install a complete collection of bespoke timber windows and doors, bringing together our Signature range with carefully considered designs and finishes to complement the buildings heritage.
Our approach focused on achieving a balance between traditional design and the practical requirements of a modern home. From the proportions of the glazing to the choice of timber, colour and hardware, every element was considered in relation to the barn’s original features.
How We Delivered
Our windows and doors were selected for their timeless design, with each element transforming the original building while respecting its traditional appearance. We worked with the customer to refine the door designs incorporating vertical bars into selected windows and doors to achieve their preferred style.
The character of a barn conversion is often defined by its original architecture, making the design of replacement or newly introduced joinery particularly important. We therefore paid close attention to the proportions and detailing of the windows, ensuring they complemented the building’s agricultural heritage.
One of the standout features was the bespoke arched French door. Designed to sit within the property’s distinctive stone archway, the doors create an elegant focal point. At the customer’s request, we incorporated a traditional door knob rather than a conventional lever handle, adding a personal touch to the design. The generous glazing allows natural light into the property while providing a beautiful connection to the surrounding countryside.
All windows and doors were crafted from Red Grandis timber and finished in Farrow & Ball London Stone No.6. This warm, earthy shade sits beautifully against the natural tones of the stonework, creating a subtle and cohesive appearance across the property.
Polished brass hardware was selected throughout, adding an understated elegance to the windows and doors.
The Result
The completed bespoke timber windows and doors sit naturally within the original stone openings, enhancing the character of this Peak Park barn conversion.
The arched French doors provide a particularly striking architectural feature, while the traditionally styled casement windows and carefully detailed glazing bars create continuity throughout the property.
By combining handcrafted Red Grandis joinery, a sympathetic colour palette and personalised design details, we have helped create a home that celebrates its agricultural heritage while accommodating contemporary living.
The finished project reflects our commitment to creating bespoke timber windows and doors that respect the individuality of every property, bringing together enduring craftsmanship, thoughtful design and a finish that complements its surroundings.
